So, What do Scouts do?

The Highest Award in Scouts is the Chief Scout Gold Award, and requires the completion of the 9 challenges badges to be gained as well as 6 activity or staged activity badges.

The Challenge badges are:

Due to the diversity of the programme, over the course of your Scouts time in the Troop, they should earn all the badges needed to get their Highest Award before they move on to Explorers, the 14-18 section.

#YouShape

At Scouts, young people learn how to speak up and take the lead. But they told us that the programme didn’t recognise this enough. That’s what the new YouShape Award is all about.

The award is split into four badges. Young people will earn the central badge first and then choose the order in which they earn the rest. They can decide on their requirements and what they want to do and are then work with their leader to decide when they've met each requirement.

The first scout meeting. The first night hike. The first trip abroad.

All of these moments are great for developing young people’s confidence, but we know how daunting it can be for the one packing their overnight bag and waving them off at the gates. And we know it doesn’t necessarily get easier as they grow.

Young people thrive in secure surroundings, at home and away. Wherever we go, we’re serious about keeping them safe.
